چکیده

The following chapter is an extension and complement of the chapter titled: 'CYCLOTRON CAVITIES', written by C. Pagani (University of Milano and INFN, Milano, I). It will deal with cavity concepts deviating from conventional cyclotron cavities (Dees) treated in the previous lecture, which are mostly based on a λ/4 or λ/2 coaxial resonator design. Cavities differing from that design usually can only be employed in separated sector cyclotrons (SSC or SOC), because such designs provide more space for the RF cavities.

In-Vitro Evaluation of Microleakage of Class II Cavities Restored with Bulk-Fill Flowable Composite

Background and Aim: Composite placement poses many challenges, especially in the gingival floor with dentinal margins. Microleakage is one of the factors affecting the longevity of dental restorations. We aimed to compare the microleakage of cavities filled with bulk-fill composite at enamel and dentinal margins. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, a total of 102 sound human pre...

Low magnetic field cooling of lepton plasmas via cyclotron-cavity resonance

Pure electron or pure positron plasmas held in magnetic fields B radiate energy because of the cyclotron motion of the plasma particles; nominally, the plasmas should cool to the often cryogenic temperatures of the trap in which they are confined. However, the cyclotron cooling rate for leptons is (1/4 s)(B/1 T), and significant cooling is not normally observed unless B 1 T. Cooling to the trap...

Electron Plasmas Cooled by Cyclotron-Cavity Resonance.

We observe that high-Q electromagnetic cavity resonances increase the cyclotron cooling rate of pure electron plasmas held in a Penning-Malmberg trap when the electron cyclotron frequency, controlled by tuning the magnetic field, matches the frequency of standing wave modes in the cavity. For certain modes and trapping configurations, this can increase the cooling rate by factors of 10 or more....

Cavity Control in a Single-Electron Quantum Cyclotron: An Improved Measurement of the Electron Magnetic Moment

A single electron in a quantum cyclotron yields new measurements of the electron magnetic moment, given by g/2 = 1.001 159 652 180 73 (28) [0.28 ppt], and the fine structure constant, α−1 = 137.035 999 084 (51) [0.37 ppb], both significantly improved from prior results. The static magnetic and electric fields of a Penning trap confine the electron, and a 100 mK dilution refrigerator cools its c...

Terahertz spectroscopy of quantum 2D electron systems

Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy permits the coherent motion of charges to be examined in a diverse range of two-dimensional semiconductor heterostructures. Studies of the THz conductivity and magnetoconductivity of two-dimensional quantum systems are reviewed, including cyclotron resonance spectroscopy and the transverse conductivity in the Hall and quantum Hall regimes. Experiments are desc...
